Hedgehog in the Fog (1975) Soviet Union - Yuriy Norshteyn

IMDB

A little hedgehog, on the way to visit his friend the bear, gets lost in thick fog, where horses, dogs and even falling leaves take on a terrifying new aspect...

Creepy, cute and intriguing.  A gem of a bygone era.

Validation (2007) USA - Kurt Kuenne

A fable about a parking attendant who gives his customers REAL validation -- dispensing both free parking and free compliments.

A great seemingly unknown short, well worth the time.

Signs (2008) Australia - Patrick Hughes

IMDB

Where do you find love? Sometimes all you need is a sign.

A touching short about love, set in the banality of office life.

The Black Hole (2008) UK - Philip Sansom, Olly Williams

IMDB

A sleep deprived office worker photocopies a "Black Hole" late one night - Suddenly the possibilities seem endless. Will greed get the better of him?

A fun short, light and entertaining.

Night of the Living Bread (1990) USA - Kevin S. O'Brien

IMDB

An explosion at a bakery causes bread to come to murderous life and attack people. A handful of desperate folks seek refuge in a secluded farmhouse. Will any of them survive the night of the living bread?

An excellent parody of Night of the Living Dead.  Light silly fun but really requires knowledge of Romero's original masterpiece.

Shooting Blanks (2003) England - Liam Gavin

IMDB

Runtime: 11mins

Summary: Cupid is an embittered alcoholic and the world has fallen apart.

This is the short film that got me into short films.  A great piece indeed, I first saw it on the Film 4 website.  I wish I could get my hands on a hard, high quality copy.

Well acted, a great concept and well worthy of a Short Hero Award!
